Charity Everjoy story by Charity

I’ve always been fascinated with music particularly starting in my early teenage years. I became keen on the idea of playing piano and started having occasional lessons with one of the brothers that played at church. However, I couldn’t always get this chance and there was no way of learning at home so I’d use every opportunity I’d get to learn a thing or two. This I guess didn’t help much but somehow I remained thirsty.

I know for sure that God has a way of answering our desires. One day my brother’s friend gave me a classical guitar that used to always sit around his house. This to me was the beginning of good things. I was determined to learn this unfamiliar instrument even if no one would teach me. I was around 14/15 years old at the time. When I had this guitar with a larger neck than a normal guitar (I didn’t know the difference), YouTube became my best friend. I learnt by watching videos and by listening to songs and taught myself how to play. It took me a while to learn my first three chords (G, C and D) but with just that, I one day gained the courage to take to the stage and sing in church;

I know my Lord will make a way, He’ll make a way, a way for me
If I live a Holy life
Shun the wrong and do the right
I know my Lord will make a way
He’ll make a way, a way for me

He’s done just that in the last number of years. From then on I learnt a little more and I had people who gave me some insight as they saw my ambition. During the same time as I grew up I started writing. For me writing was an outlet, a search for peace at times. I used to write about faith, life, friends and whatever else. Eventually this then developed into poetry and songs.

I can’t put a finger on the amount of poems and songs I’ve written but there’s a significant amount. I learnt how to record from other people and used to share a lot of my written songs on the internet. Though I’ve never really released an official album, I’m sure God will make a way for that to happen. In 2016, I recorded one of my favourite inspirations “Turn on the light”. This song was an inspiration from a sermon, ‘There’s A Man That Can Turn On The Light’ preached in 1963. God has been gracious to allow me to share this with people all around the world and I know He had plenty more in store for this year and the years to come till the rapture. I’m still learning more and seeking more so I can give more of what He gives to bless His people.

God bless you
